Over our six weeks together we will be getting to know our hormones, what they are trying to tell us and how we can support them.

We take a look at the six main hormone groups that start to shout during peri/menopause and need support as our hormones change through menopause.

Stress hormones - cortisol and the adrenals
We look at how cortisol has an impact on all the other hormone systems, why cortisol can get a little confused when trying to keep us safe & well.

Thyroid - our metabolism, weight management and energy
The thyroid is sensitive to all changes in our hormones, changes to our skin, hair, digestion, weight….I could go on are all linked to our thyroid needing a little more support.

Insulin and our blood sugar - weight around the middle and appetite
Keeping our blood sugar stable is key to supporting our hormone changes, particularly hot flushes, sleep disturbance and not to mention any weight that won’t shift around our middle.

Melatonin - sleep and our circadian rhythm
Sleep is so important to our physical & mental wellbeing and plays a huge role in hormone balance. What happens in the day affects what happens at night and so there are so many ways to support better sleep.

Control hub of hormones - the brain
The hypothalamus and pituitary gland in the brain are the control hub to our hormones. Getting to know some of the important neurotransmitters and how to support them with the right brain food has a positive impact on anxiety and low mood which is so common during menopause.

Oestrogen - the changes through Peri-Menopause and menopause
The sex hormones work in synergy through our cycle and have an affect on our body systems as they change through menopause. The foods we eat and the types of exercise our body needs may change through perimenopause and menopause - be ready.
